An inclusive skate park for all generations in the middle of Murnau – the new skate park south of the train station in Murnau am Staffelsee is a space for exercise that goes far beyond purely sporting use. The design, developed in close collaboration with local users, combines a modern, urban design with a clear focus on inclusion, quality of stay and creative flow – in line with the principle of “free, open and outdoors”. At the heart of the approximately 500 m² park is a street-flow concept that combines typical elements of urban architecture – such as benches, railings and ledges – with flowing, organic transitions. The open structure of the park makes it possible to skate on several lines at the same time, promoting a high degree of variability and individual use. Skaters of all levels of experience will find suitable challenges here – from low-level elements for beginners to more technically demanding features.
Special attention is paid to inclusive usability: all access and recreation areas are accessible at ground level or via specially designed ramps. Straight lines, features suitable for wheelchairs and specific elements such as a flat bar with WCMX ramp or rainbow rail also enable wheelchair users (WCMX) to make full use of the facility. This makes the skate park an exemplary space for active participation – regardless of age, ability or experience level. In terms of design, the skate park also impresses with well thought-out details: the open, permeable structure ensures clarity and a high sense of safety – especially for younger users or marginalized groups. Individual sculptural objects, natural slopes and deliberate color contrasts ensure a harmonious integration into the surroundings and strengthen the visual identity of the location.
The skate park in Murnau will thus become a social meeting place and creative space for movement that enables equal participation – a lively place that stands for diversity and enriches the public space in the long term.
