In the heart of the municipality of Pullach, the new skate park on Münchener Straße is creating a contemporary space for informal urban sports. Directly connected to the newly built youth center, the approximately 625 m² in-situ concrete facility blends into the existing sports and open space structure and expands the community’s social infrastructure with a low-threshold, publicly accessible exercise facility.
The topographically sensitive placement along the existing terrain and the integration into the adjacent green structure create a natural interlocking of sports, landscape, and recreation. Open space edges and clear sightlines create a place that invites both riding and lingering—integrated, clearly laid out, and accessible to all age and user groups.
The design concept follows a street flow principle that combines classic street elements with organically shaped transitions. A differentiated multi-line layout enables diverse, intersecting, and circular axes of movement—designed for beginners as well as experienced riders. The spatial structure is divided into three functional zones: a front section with a bench and quarter pipe, an opposite mini ramp section with flyout, corner, and hip, and a central street section with flat bar, manual pads, and a combination of hip and ledge. The result is a lively movement area with high usage density and smooth riding.
Special focus is placed on the landscape architectural integration of noise protection. A modeled wall on the western edge of the facility serves both functional and design purposes: it reduces noise emissions to the adjacent residential area and at the same time forms a spatial boundary to the open park landscape. Newly planted trees and modeled embankments integrate the wall into the natural environment – as a tranquil backdrop for the lively activity in the foreground.
The materials and detailed design highlight the open, rugged character of the place. Smooth in-situ concrete in different shades of gray meets striking steel elements with blue accents, which are used to create visual orientation. Grass pavers divide the recreational areas and form a smooth transition between the sports area and the surrounding environment. Seating along the main axes encourages informal interaction and enhances the quality of the immediate surroundings of the facility.
The Pullach skate park is a place that strikes a balance between sporting use, social interaction, and landscaping—open, visible, and embedded in the everyday lives of local young people.
