Zweibrücken, Urban Sports Park

With the skatepark in Zweibrücken, the “Kleine Exe” site was redeveloped as part of the renovation of existing asphalt sports surfaces and transformed into a new meeting point for urban movement. At its center is a modern in-situ concrete skatepark, which functions as a freely accessible and versatile movement space across approximately 850 m². Embedded within a wider setting of additional sports and movement facilities, the project adds a low-threshold offer for informal sports to the open space while also strengthening the site’s overall quality of stay.

The particular quality of the skatepark lies in its compact, clearly structured design. Within its distinctive footprint, a coherent street-flow layout was created that connects linear, circular, and intersecting riding lines through its multi-line concept. This diversity ensures long-term creative use and gives the park a high functional density despite its compact size. Adjacent offers such as calisthenics and other urban sports uses complement the site and expand it into a versatile movement destination.

The design is also closely tied to the character of the place. Medium-grey pigmented concrete, geometric ground markings, and green accent details give the park a distinct and easily recognizable identity. Embankments at the transitions and new tree planting integrate the space into the green setting of the “Kleine Exe” and create a natural transition between sports surface and open landscape.
