Description

In Biblis, the Pfaffenaue skatepark creates a new space for movement by activating a previously underused open area at the Pfaffenau Stadium and transforming it into an open meeting point for informal sports. Across approximately 550 m², a freely accessible in-situ concrete skatepark is being developed that not only supports athletic use, but also upgrades the site as a public place to stay. The design is based on a participation process with local users and translates their needs into a compact, creatively usable concept with a low threshold of access and strong everyday usability.

A defining quality of the project is its natural integration into the surrounding green setting. Open sightlines, a clear spatial structure, and taller elements positioned along the edges ensure that, despite its compact size, the facility feels generous and safe. A paved access path connects the skatepark to the existing circulation network. New tree planting at the entrance and a small seating area strengthen its relationship to the surrounding open space and create a pleasant place to spend time.

The design is also deliberately clear and site-specific. Blue accents referencing the Biblis coat of arms, together with distinctive ground markings, give the skatepark its own identity without disturbing the calm overall appearance. In this way, an underused site in Biblis is transformed into a compact, well-integrated movement space that naturally brings together sport, stay, and a green setting.
