Netphen, Skatepark

The Skatepark Netphen is part of the intergenerational movement park and offers the users a special variety of possibilities despite the relatively small area of 600 m2. As a so-called ‘street-flow park’, the design combines urban features with organic elements and a lot of flow in a functional multi-line concept in in-situ concrete construction. A variety of mobile elements, which are stored in the neighboring N-Flow leisure park, can also be individually placed and used in a versatile way by the users. This versatility makes the facility particularly attractive in the long term.

Centrally connected to this easily accessible flat area, the recreation area has an important social function. The proximity to the action area encourages interaction with other users of the skate park while the clear separation of the seating area from the paved paths of the movement park provides a sense of security. The seating furniture consists of rectangular concrete bodies, which in their form could also stand as obstacles in the skate area.

Special attention was paid to the seamless integration of the skate park design into the park environment. To achieve this, the base level of the elements was kept as low as possible with a base height of one meter. Vertical surfaces were avoided as much as possible or were organically incorporated into nature through slopes, and trees were placed both on and next to the skate surface.
