Skatepark Höhenberg

Claiming an increased quality of life of an entire city quarter, the redesign and update of Skatepark Höhenberg was all about putting focus on the specific needs of the various user and visitor groups. That is why – together with „Skater Paradise“ initiative – we created a concept in participative workshops that equally considers sports enthusiasts of all different kinds of age and skill levels as well as disciplines.

Throughout the whole planning process, we included wheelchair skating (WCMX), facilitating a platform to do informal sports without intertwining with specifications for skateboarding and BMX. This really makes Skatepark Höhenberg a pioneer in inclusive skatepark construction in and off the borders of Cologne.

The design concept follows the existing range of obstacle in Cologne and takes up on elements that couldn’t be found anywhere else in the city. Further, the transition area consists of a unique mix of mini-bowl and pumptrack.
