Description

In the center of Wölfersheim, the vacant lot at the train station is being transformed into an open, freely accessible exercise and recreation area. Its location at a daily traffic hub makes the site visible, safe, and lively; new pathways, sightlines, and well-placed seating areas naturally integrate the facility into the adjacent green spaces and encourage people to linger in the public space.

The planning was carried out in close cooperation with the local community and follows the principle of “free, open and outdoors.” The result is a compact, easily visible sports landscape in in-situ concrete that can be used by the entire roller sports community, deliberately designed to be low-threshold and inclusive, including WCMX use. The result is a cross-generational meeting place that permanently activates the station environment and enhances everyday life in the city center.

In terms of design, the project ties in directly with the location: a locomotive integrated into the lounge area, subtle rail details, and targeted material accents translate the station theme into a clear identity. Green border areas, new plantings, and modeled embankments create soft transitions to the landscape and pleasant viewing situations. A peripheral area is thus transformed into an identity-forming center that harmoniously combines movement, recreation, and a sense of place.
